From our product premiering on Kickstarter, to the post-campaign pre-sale on Indiegogo. Read about Locky’s entrepreneurial journey with crowdfunding platforms.
While developing Locky, we decided on a pre-order sales strategy. Crowdfunding platforms seemed to be the perfect tool for the sort of device Locky is, ie. based on an innovative technology. So we made our research, chose the medium, and started extensive pre-campaign preparations.
Kickstarter
Among many platforms, Kickstarter was the one we chose for Locky’s grand premiere. It’s the world’s biggest crowdfunding platform that allows new businesses to get support of people from all around the globe. The numbers speak for themselves: over 4 billion dollars pledged to 155 thousands of projects, and, most importantly, 5 million returning backers – potential supporters. The success rate on Kickstarter is 36,6%, which is neither small nor big, so it’s really important to know the medium and find a niche. Ours was the category of smart home products, in which we had to stand out. Therefore, we put a lot of effort into preparing our page and video, and finally they looked like THIS.
Successful campaign
After many months of solid preparations, we launched our campaign on the 28th of August. Thankfully, our patience wasn’t put to a test… Only 2 hours passed before we reached our $10 000 goal, and by the end of the day, we were at 200%! And these were only the first in the long chain of good news, as Locky really aroused great interest and found its customers. After a month-long campaign, we were happy to have raised $41,025 from 321 backers, to whom we’re extremely grateful! They made it possible for Locky to be in full swing right now. Indiegogo
While working on mass production and commercial launch, we decided to make Locky still available in pre-order. We applied another big crowdfunding platform for this purpose: Indiegogo, with its post-campaign solution called InDemand. HERE it is where you can buy Locky even right now, with pre-order discounts.
And so it came to pass. We’re extremely happy that we decided to join Kickstarter first and Indiegogo now, thanks to those crowdfunding solutions we were able to spread our wings and present our product to the global audience. Every effort was worth it!
